Europe is starting to think about the unnaturalness of yesterday: how to respond to Russia. Western states are increasingly openly discussing coordinated offensive cyber operations and surprise military exercises, amid the intensification of Moscow's campaign to destabilize NATO allies, writes Politico.
Europe is facing an escalation of Russian attacks, including drones crossing the airspaces of Poland and Romania and sabotage on critical infrastructure. In this context, Western states are discussing the coordination of offensive cyber operations and surprise military exercises to respond to Moscow's challenges. Latvia's Foreign Minister, Baiba Braže, emphasizes that these actions are essential to send a strong message to Russia. In the first seven months of the year, over 110 acts of sabotage have been reported in Europe, mostly in Poland and France. Following the attacks, Poland has mobilized 10,000 troops to protect critical infrastructure, and Italy has proposed a detailed plan to counter hybrid aggressions.
