EU member states have agreed to relax environmental regulations for farmers applying for subsidies under the Common Agricultural Policy.

The final approval for the easing of regulations was given by EU member states after massive protests by farmers. The measures include a derogation from set-aside rules and extra financial support for farmers who voluntarily leave part of their land unused. Crop rotation rules are also relaxed.
