A 24-year-old inmate, sentenced to 4 years and 7 months for aggravated robbery, escaped Thursday evening from the Poarta Albă Penitentiary by climbing over the facility's fence during a visit to the medical office. The escape was discovered around 6:20 PM, and the authorities quickly initiated a search operation, setting up roadblocks and mobilizing police teams in Constanța County. The inmate was caught on the night from Thursday to Friday, around 1:20 AM, in the town of Murfatlar, by prison police officers. Following the incident, the Poarta Albă Penitentiary will notify the Prosecutor's Office to analyze the circumstances of the escape and will initiate a disciplinary procedure, including changing the execution regime to maximum security. According to the legislation, escape is punishable by imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years, a penalty that will be added to the existing sentence.
