Electrocentrale București S.A. (ELCEN) has announced the completion of the first stage of the competitive dialogue procedure for awarding the contract for the implementation of a new high-efficiency cogeneration unit at CET București Sud.
This project represents a significant step in modernizing the energy infrastructure of the Capital. ELCEN has completed all necessary stages, including signing the financing contract through the Modernization Fund and launching the competitive dialogue procedure, in which six applications were submitted, three of which were selected for the next stage.
The new plant will have an installed capacity of 275 MWe and 214 MWt, using natural gas and being prepared for gas-hydrogen blends. The project, with an estimated value of 3.6 billion lei, will contribute to increasing energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and stabilizing the National Energy System. ELCEN is thus developing a comprehensive investment program, with a total value of approximately 5 billion lei, to ensure a safe supply of thermal energy in Bucharest.
