On Wednesday, the Chamber of Deputies adopted a bill that establishes that the refusal of a seller to replace a non-compliant product is punishable by a fine ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 lei.

The Bolojan government supports the amendment, emphasizing that the current legislation does not provide penalties for the refusal to replace, which leads to multiple unjustified refusals from traders. The project proposes that non-compliance with the obligation to replace the non-compliant good be considered an offense, with fines ranging between 5,000 and 25,000 lei. The executive believes that the lack of penalties reduces the effectiveness of the regulation and facilitates the disregard for consumer rights.
