Diana Șoșoacă, MEP and president of the S.O.S. Romania Party, sent a letter of protest to the Russian Embassy, criticizing the statements of the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, regarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. In the letter, Șoșoacă asserts that the Republic of Moldova belongs to Romania and that Zakharova's statements about Moldovan identity are manipulations. She cites previous statements by Vladimir Putin, who acknowledges the cultural ties between Romanians and Moldovans, to argue that the Romanian and Moldovan languages are, in fact, the same language.
Additionally, Șoșoacă criticizes the policy of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, whom she calls a "fraud," accusing her of undermining the sovereignty of the country. She concludes that the problem is not between Romania and Moldova, but in Russia's misunderstanding of the desires of the peoples in its former spheres of influence.
