Diana Buzoianu, the Minister of the Environment, stated that she will not resign following the scandal related to the interruption of drinking water supply in Prahova and Dâmbovița counties. She emphasized that the responsibility for this situation does not belong to the ministry, but to local institutions. Buzoianu asserted that the reforms she has implemented will not be abandoned due to political pressures.
She also acknowledged that, although it is not perfect, there are no mistakes on the part of the ministry in this case. She criticized corruption in environmental institutions and mentioned that the current problems are the result of decades of negligence. Buzoianu highlighted the need for real reforms and emphasized that the situation in Prahova is exacerbated by inefficient structures, such as the Prahova Zone System Exploitation, which was created to ensure sinecures.
