In the first months of summer 2025, Romanian tourism experienced a decline in arrivals of Romanians, with -4.2% in June and -4.4% in July, in contrast to the increase of +7.2% of foreign tourists. Mountain and spa resorts saw a slight increase in the length of stay, but demand stagnated. The Danube Delta saw a 10% decrease in bookings, while city breaks dropped by almost 10%. Incoming tourism grew by 15%, but economic challenges, such as the increase in VAT and the decrease in vacation vouchers, negatively affect the sector. In the absence of coherent government measures, tourism operators face uncertainties and difficulties in planning future investments.
