Daniel Fenechiu, the leader of the PNL senators, stated that a possible 10% reduction in the lump sum granted to parliamentarians will not solve financial problems, but will result in the dismissal of an employee or the abandonment of an office. He emphasized that, although he does not believe the measure would be beneficial, he is willing to accept it as part of a national effort.

Fenechiu proposed, instead, the elimination of allowances for parliamentarians who are not from Bucharest, arguing that they should be present at work. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan supported the reduction of expenses in administration and stated that a cut in the lump sum for parliamentarians will not have a significant impact. Fenechiu criticized populism in discussions about parliamentarians' incomes, emphasizing that it is important to analyze their activity instead of focusing solely on salaries.
