Daniel David, Minister of Education, said a teachers' strike in September will not bring short-term benefits, given the financial difficulties facing the country. He stressed that austerity measures affect all areas, including education, and that a strike could lead to the same impasse. David said he was open to discussions to find solutions to improve the situation of teachers without resorting to strike action. Recently, education unionists protested against the under-funding of research institutions.
