Dan Dungaciu, first vice-president of AUR and a sociologist by profession, has been sent to trial by the DNA for abuse of office. The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected his appeal, ordering the commencement of the trial on the merits.

Dungaciu is accused that, in his capacity as director of the 'Ion I. C. Brătianu' Institute of Political Science and International Relations (ISPRI), he signed a loan contract without a public tender, causing a prejudice to the institute of 101,607 lei. He claims that the activity of the LARICS Association, created to obtain funds, did not affect the functioning of ISPRI and that he did not act with the intention of failing to fulfill his duties. The court upheld the legality of the evidence administered by the DNA, and Dungaciu contests the charges, considering them unfounded.
