Cristian Mungiu, a director originally from Iași, has been proposed for the title of honorary citizen of Iași County, following his recent success at the Cannes Film Festival, where his film 'Fjord' won the prestigious Palme d'Or.
The President of the Iași County Council, Costel Alexe, emphasized the importance of this moment for the community, also mentioning the impact of cultural events on the visibility of the county. During the ordinary meeting of the CJ, Alexe announced that, after discussions with representatives of the cultural environment, he will officially propose granting this title to Mungiu.
The director is recognized as one of the most awarded Romanian filmmakers, and at Cannes, he obtained, alongside the Palme d'Or, other important distinctions, thus highlighting his significant contribution to international cinema.
