Cristian Măcelaru, an internationally renowned conductor and artistic director of the 'George Enescu' International Festival, has been awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Bucharest, granted by the interim mayor Stelian Bujduveanu. The ceremony took place at the Romanian Athenaeum, in the presence of personalities from Romanian cultural life. Bujduveanu emphasized Măcelaru's impact on promoting Romanian culture internationally and highlighted his role in enhancing the prestige of the Enescu Festival. Măcelaru thanked for the distinction, underscoring the importance of art in reflecting universal values and promised to continue contributing to Romanian culture. With a Grammy Award to his name, he is recognized as one of the most appreciated conductors of his generation.
