A 39-year-old man from Craiova has been arrested for 30 days after charging 8,000 lei in interest on a loan, charged with extortion.

Craiova police officers caught the suspect on June 15 after he collected 8,000 lei in interest from a victim. Following searches of his homes, evidence relevant to the case was seized. The man is accused of threatening the victim in order to obtain financial gain and of granting illegal loans, charging unjustified interest. He was detained and subsequently remanded in custody for 30 days.
