The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced that he has sent the Control Body to the County Hospital of Constanța to investigate recent cases of children in brain death, stating that this control will last the entire week. He emphasized that the College of Physicians is the only body authorized to verify whether medical interventions were performed properly. Following accusations made by the families of the patients, who claim that the care was inadequate, the hospital has initiated an internal investigation.
Rogobete mentioned that, in the case of a two-year-old child operated on for intestinal volvulus, the condition worsened due to septicemia, and in the case of a six-year-old girl, who entered brain death after an appendectomy, questions have arisen regarding the post-operative medical consultation. The Minister emphasized that, although there is speculation, it is important to wait for the results of the investigations before drawing conclusions about malpractice.
