The commander in reserve Sandu Valentin Mateiu warned that if it is confirmed that there were three more drones near the Port of Constanța, it is possible that it was a hybrid attack on Romania, because "it is unlikely to have four drones drifting near critical infrastructure far from the battlefield."
"If this hypothesis, that there are three more drones, is verified, we reach the situation in which, in fact, there was a hybrid attack on the critical infrastructure of Romania. It is unlikely to have four drones drifting near critical infrastructure far from the battlefield. For Romanians, it is a state of crisis preceding war. In fact, you have a hybrid war, someone attacked the critical infrastructure and our authorities are now reacting according to established norms. We are in a situation of defending the country against drones that carry hundreds of kilograms of explosives," said the commander.
Sandu Valentin Mateiu also emphasized the need for caution in assessing the situation and that the responsible authorities, such as the Border Police and the Coast Guard, must investigate the incident to determine the origin of the drone.
Mateiu warned that Romania is facing a serious threat, considering the potential explosiveness of the drones.
We remind that the prefect of Constanța County, Adrian-Teodor Picoiu, stated on Friday for G4Media that the drone that exploded in the port of Constanța is part of a group of five Ukrainian drones.
