On Wednesday morning, two freight trains belonging to the private operator Rail Cargo collided in the area of the Olteni Station, Teleorman County. The incident occurred on the Gălăteni–Olteni railway section, Line I, and did not result in the derailment of cars or casualties, according to information provided by CFR. One of the trains, which was traveling towards the Olteni station, was supposed to stop at the entry signal to allow other trains to pass. A second train, coming from the same direction, passed the stop protection signal and hit it.
Specialist staff from the Craiova Regional Railway Branch, along with investigative teams, are on site to analyze the causes of the accident. Following the incident, train traffic between Olteni and Gălăteni is being conducted on Line II, with changes to the traffic schedule. Rail Cargo was also involved in a railway accident in February, when a train chief died.
