The head of CNAIR, Cristian Pistol, emphasized that the main priority is the safety of traffic participants, not the opening of roads at any cost. In the case of severe blizzards or blockage risks, CNAIR employees are trained to temporarily close roads and to intervene to reopen them only when conditions become safe. Pistol stated that he prefers to have roads closed in a controlled manner rather than putting drivers' lives at risk.
Approximately 1000 machines are mobilized to clear snow and combat ice, and over 5,000 tons of anti-slip material have been used, especially in mountainous areas. The director of CNAIR called on traffic participants to avoid traveling in extreme weather conditions and to ensure that vehicles are properly equipped for winter.
