The College of Dentists in Romania (CMSR) has requested the Ministry of Health for a real consultation before the approval of the AP-STOMA program, which aims to expand patient access to dental interventions with anesthesia-intensive therapy (ATI). Dentists recognize the importance of patient safety and a direct funding mechanism, but emphasize that the main issue remains the limited capacity of the dental system in state hospitals and the uneven distribution of specialists.
CMSR proposes a reconfiguration of the program to direct public funds towards real funding needs and suggests the development of dental centers with ATI support in public hospitals. Additionally, there is a call to correlate AP-STOMA with dental prevention policies, including education and early intervention programs.
