Mayor Emil Boc announced the start of work on the Cluj metro, but recently, the Minister of Investment confirmed that the project will no longer benefit from the €300 million in European funding, having been withdrawn from the NRRP due to delays. Boc said there is a signed funding contract, but the Pro Infrastructure Association criticized the management of the project, claiming that the mayor is selling the illusion of its completion. The metro is expected to be completed in 2031 with a total investment of €2.2 billion.
