The Local Food Bank Sector 6, a project initiated by Ciprian Ciucu, candidate for the Bucharest City Hall, was awarded at the 'European Social Services Awards' gala in Madrid, winning the trophy in the Community Strengthening and Social Inclusion category. This initiative, unique in Romania, was recognized for its impact in combating food waste and supporting vulnerable groups, being selected from approximately 140 European social projects.

In its first year, the Bank collected 525 tons of food, equivalent to 1.4 million euros, delivering 135,000 hot meals for students and 100,000 portions for people in need. The project involved over 300 volunteers and accumulated 30,000 hours of volunteer work. Ciprian Ciucu emphasized the importance of this award as an example of best practices for other local public authorities.
