The General Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced that the debate regarding the increase of fares for public transport provided by STB was initiated by members of the General Assembly of Shareholders, but it will not be resumed until the company implements internal reforms.
Ciucu explained that, although he put the request for fare increases on the agenda, it was rejected by PSD. The mayor requested a reform plan from the STB management, emphasizing that the company is not under his authority, but under that of the General Council. He mentioned that STB needs to reduce costs and improve service quality, warning that, in the absence of these measures, the company could enter insolvency.
The Mayor of the Capital criticized the current structure of STB, calling for the elimination of hiring based on relationships and the reduction of TESA staff, to justify a possible increase in ticket prices.
