Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of Sector 6 and first vice-president of PNL, proposed organizing a referendum on the elimination of special pensions, suggesting that it could take place in parallel with the local partial elections this year, including in Bucharest. The proposal comes after the Constitutional Court decided that the law regarding judges' pensions is unconstitutional. Ciucu emphasized that he respects the CCR's decision but remains committed to state reform and the elimination of privileges.
The idea of the referendum was initially put forward by the president of USR, Dominic Fritz, who proposed amending the Constitution to prevent judges from retiring at 50 years old. Regarding the elections for Bucharest, various political leaders suggest different dates for their conduct, with varying preferences among the parties. Ciprian Ciucu ruled out a joint candidacy between PSD, PNL, and USR, recalling the previous difficulties in collaboration between these parties.
