The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, attacked the PSD after the scandal in the General Council of Bucharest Municipality (CGMB) related to a project that aims to reduce bills for hot water and heating. Ciucu called the initiative "smoke and mirrors" and accused the PSD of populism, emphasizing that the proposed measures already exist in the supply contracts.
He explained that the project does not meet the legal conditions necessary for debate, lacking approvals from ANRE and the Competition Council. The mayor warned that inciting the population not to pay their bills could destabilize the heating system, putting the energy security of Bucharest at risk. Ciucu emphasized that citizens can already request compensation for inadequate deliveries and criticized the PSD for not offering real solutions, but engaging in political circus. He concluded that non-payment of bills will affect the city's budget, reducing funds for essential investments.
