The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced stricter measures for managing public parking in Bucharest, accusing the current system of being inefficient and bringing in very low revenues. The Local Police will start imposing fines on drivers who park in the Municipality's spots without paying, including with the help of automatic verification vehicles. At the same time, free parking will be reduced, as the number of cars benefiting from free parking is much greater than the number of available spots, with only legally provided facilities remaining. The administration is also considering establishing its own service for towing improperly parked cars, especially in the central area, but a clear plan for creating new parking spaces has not yet been presented.
