The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Raed Arafat, announced changes to the RO-ALERT system, which will include different sounds for types of messages, depending on the severity of the situation. The imminent risk alert and the extreme alert will retain the original sound, while other alerts, such as severe ones or for missing children, will have more discreet sounds, similar to SMS messages. A new category, the public safety alert, will be transmitted only through written messages, without sound, to protect individuals in danger. Arafat emphasized that these changes are not the result of a recent reaction, but are part of an adaptation process that began a few months ago, which depends on updates to users' phone operating systems. These changes will allow the transmission of public interest messages, such as those for yellow code, which until now were communicated exclusively through the DSU application.
