The police have launched an investigation into CFR Călători for possible tax irregularities, including failure to pay taxes and employee contributions within the legal deadline. The criminal case, which is under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, covers offenses dating back ten years. The company denies the debts and says it has agreements with ANAF for installment payments, promising to provide documents requested by the authorities.
