The former first vice-president of PNL, Cătălin Predoiu, stated that the party has gradually lost its electoral base due to the policies adopted in the last 10 years. Predoiu conducted research showing that PNL has distanced itself from Romanian entrepreneurs, essential for creating jobs and revenue for the budget. He emphasizes that the problem was not participation in governance, but the content of the promoted policies.

Predoiu believes that the solution for regaining the electoral base would have been well-targeted policies for entrepreneurship and the development of national production capacity. He also criticizes the current leadership of PNL and the decision to remain in opposition, stating that Romania has operated on an economic model built on the go, based on consumption and European funds. Predoiu resigned from the position of first vice-president and is part of the group of liberals who contest the current leadership of the party.
