Călin Georgescu, former candidate in the presidential elections, has been released from judicial control by the Bucharest Tribunal, which decided that the measure is not well-founded. In a message posted on Facebook, Georgescu described this decision as a work of God, expressing his gratitude and urging his supporters to remain united in post and prayer. He emphasized the importance of the sacrifice of his supporters and highlighted the common ideal of faith and the good of the Romanian people.
Georgescu has been sent to trial in 2025 for promoting fascist and xenophobic ideologies, being accused by the General Prosecutor's Office of attempting to normalize the Legionary Movement. He is also involved in another case, accused of complicity in a coup d'état. The Tribunal accepted the appeal of his lawyers, thus lifting the judicial control.
