Sorin Pătrașcu, the manager of the Buzău County Emergency Hospital, discussed the challenges faced by the healthcare unit, especially regarding the insufficient number of doctors. In neonatology, out of three doctors, only two can take shifts, which makes this line of duty extremely poorly covered. There are also issues in cardiology, where only one doctor is on duty, and in ENT, the situation is similar, with the risk of having only two doctors left.
Pătrașcu mentioned that the doctors in the Emergency Unit do 6-7 shifts a month, which affects their personal lives. Following the loss of doctor Ștefania Szabo, who died on duty, the hospital had to call in external doctors to cover the shortages. The manager emphasized that neonatology and cardiology are urgent priorities, and future political decisions are awaited to improve the situation.
