The General Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, will submit Bucharest's candidacy on Tuesday to host the Cities Forum 2027, an important event organized by the European Commission, which will be attended by approximately 800 mayors, urban experts, and representatives of local administrations from across Europe. The general councilors unanimously approved the decision to empower the mayor to submit the candidacy file.

The majority of the necessary funds are provided by the European Commission, and the event could bring significant revenue for the HoReCa industry in Bucharest. The candidacies will be evaluated by the European Urban Initiative, and the winner will be announced on April 15, 2026. The forum has previously taken place in cities such as Rotterdam, Porto, Turin, and Krakow. Representatives of PMB emphasize that Bucharest deserves to be recognized on the map of Europe.
