BRD has announced the launch of the Multicurrency option for debit cards, which allows customers to associate euro, dollar, and pound sterling accounts to a single card in lei. Mădălina Teodorescu, Deputy General Director of the bank, emphasized that this functionality meets customer demands for innovative digital solutions. The option is available for BRD Mastercard and Visa cards, including various types of cards such as Standard, Gold, and Platinum, and can be activated from the YOU BRD app.

Customers can open new foreign currency accounts or associate existing accounts, setting the order of priority for debiting. Currency exchange is done at a preferential rate, eliminating conversion for international payments and cash withdrawals, and users can make up to eight free withdrawals per month. BRD, part of the Société Générale group, operates 356 units and has total assets of 94 billion RON at the end of September 2025.
