On July 16, at Henri Coandă International Airport, border authorities and customs inspectors confiscated 121,800 undeclared cigarettes, hidden in the luggage of four passengers, including an Egyptian citizen and an American one. The Egyptian, arriving from Cairo and holding a residence permit in Italy, stated that he had no luggage, but checks revealed three registered bags in his name, containing 58,600 cigarettes.

In another case, an American citizen arriving from Athens left three unclaimed bags, which contained 44,800 cigarettes. Two other situations involved the discovery of 9,600 and 8,800 cigarettes with other passengers. In total, 121,800 cigarettes without a tax stamp were seized, and investigations are ongoing to take the necessary legal measures.
