Ilie Bolojan stated that graduates of state medical faculties should remain to work in Romania for a period of at least two to five years after graduation. During the General Assembly of the Association of Municipalities in Romania, he emphasized that those who benefit from state-funded medical training have an obligation to the country. Bolojan highlighted the issue of the imbalance between rural and urban areas regarding the number of doctors, mentioning that out of the 7,000 graduates of medical faculties, only 1,000 are employed in the public sector. He also pointed out that many Romanian doctors choose to work abroad, which contributes to the shortage of medical staff in Romania. The Prime Minister called for the courage to make difficult decisions to redistribute doctors where they are most needed, especially in rural areas.
