Meteorologists have reported accumulations of fresh snow in the Făgăraș and Bucegi mountains, with thicknesses of 20-40 cm, over an older unstable layer. The snowfall forecast for the coming days will add another 10-20 cm of snow, and strong winds have created wind slabs in sheltered areas. These conditions increase the risk of avalanches on steep slopes, especially near the ridges. In the Țarcu-Godeanu mountains, fresh snow layers of 25-45 cm have been recorded, with low adherence to the lower layer. The avalanche risk is considerable in the Eastern and Western Carpathians. At the weather stations, the snow layer varies, reaching 154 cm at the Omu Peak and 88 cm at Bâlea-Lac.
