Australia has announced that it will increase its defense budget from approximately 2% to 3% of GDP by 2033, amid the deterioration of the global security environment and the intensification of international conflicts.
The Australian government believes that the current geopolitical context is the most unstable since World War II and justifies this decision by the need to strengthen military capabilities and deter emerging threats.
The budget increase will be implemented gradually, through additional investments over the next decade, focusing on modernizing the armed forces and developing more autonomous defense capabilities.
