The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) issued a statement accusing a 'witch hunt' against its leader, George Simion, after an article in The Jerusalem Post called on the United States to reevaluate his visa. AUR claims that the accusations of pro-Russianism are unfounded and that they arose following criticisms directed at former U.S. ambassadors who are involved in Romanian politics.

The statement emphasizes that Adrian Zuckerman, one of the signatories of the article, was Donald Trump's ambassador and that the accusations against Simion are similar to those made against Trump in the U.S., without concrete evidence. AUR rejects the accusations and believes that Zuckerman has become a political actor, abandoning neutrality. The party asserts that the actions against Simion are a continuation of a discrediting campaign and that there is no evidence to support the allegations of ties to the Kremlin.
