ArcelorMittal has confirmed the permanent closure of the steel plant in Hunedoara, after production was suspended on September 5 due to difficult market conditions. Although the president of the Steelworkers Union announced the recall of the 470 employees to work starting November 1, the company has decided that resuming operations is not financially sustainable.

ArcelorMittal evaluated the possibility of collaborating with ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine, but concluded that the economic prospects are unfavorable, especially due to high energy prices and competition from cheap imports. The company will offer voluntary departure packages to employees and is committed to supporting them in this transition.
