The National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE) announced the withdrawal of the license of the supplier Grenerg, a first in the history of the institution, due to serious and repeated violations. The decision will take effect on June 19, 2026, and affects a portfolio of 22,564 consumption points. Grenerg has accumulated fines of over 1,165,000 lei for breaches of legislation and ANRE rules, including changing the supplier without the customers' consent.
The president of ANRE, George Niculescu, emphasized that the withdrawal of the license is a severe measure, necessary to protect consumer rights. Grenerg customers will not be left without electricity, as they will be redistributed to a supplier of last resort. ANRE provides consumers with a price comparator and the option to choose a new supplier. This decision comes after repeated inspections and fines imposed on Grenerg for similar violations.
