The National Association of Tourist Agencies in Romania (ANAT) has sounded the alarm over the statements of the Minister of Economy, Radu Miruță, who has made erroneous opinions about the tourism sector. ANAT warns that the abolition of holiday vouchers, the VAT increase and the reduction of subsidies for incoming tourism are jeopardizing an industry that is essential for the Romanian economy. ANAT President, Alin Burcea, underlines the positive impact of vouchers on the HoReCa sector's tax burden and the increase in the number of accommodation establishments. He also calls for government support for the promotion of tourism and the appointment of a secretary of state dedicated to this sector.
