The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) will establish a specialized division for monitoring cryptocurrency transactions, according to the announcement by President Adrian Nica. This new structure will be responsible for identifying and investigating attempts to disguise illegal activities through the crypto market. Although ANAF acknowledges that it currently lacks all the necessary tools for complete oversight, it is committed to enhancing its analytical capacity. Nica emphasized that the five-year legal statute of limitations allows the agency to document and sanction potential frauds, including those carried out through cryptocurrencies. He mentioned that ANAF is in a "pioneering period" in this field and that, after the operationalization of the new structure, the responsibilities and results of its activities will be communicated to the public.
