The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, confirmed that several American aircraft have left the military base at Mihail Kogălniceanu, in the context of international tensions related to the conflict in Iran. Although the Romanian Parliament recently approved the possibility of bringing in American military equipment, Romanian authorities do not have information about the destination of the aircraft. Miruță mentioned that three aircraft flew outside Romanian airspace, but he does not know if they refueled. Reactions from Iran did not take long to appear, with the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry warning that Romania's support for the USA would equate to participation in military aggression.
President Nicușor Dan emphasized that Romania is not in a different situation compared to the past and that the partnership with the USA and NATO membership ensure the country's security. The context remains delicate, considering the implications of the conflict in the Middle East.
