Railway Reform Authority chairman Mihai Barbu has announced that Alstom risks penalties of tens of millions of euros for two years of delays in the delivery of Coradia trains, with a new deadline set for January 2026. In contrast, Polish manufacturer PESA will deliver 14 trains to Romania, with the first trainset operated by CFR Călători in 2026. Barbu also discussed the increase in compensation for CFR Călători management, as well as the need to invest in rail infrastructure to attract more passengers.
