Following checks carried out on February 19, traffic police fined nearly 600 drivers who were driving vehicles with the steering wheel on the right side, noting various irregularities.

The analysis conducted by the Romanian Police showed that, between 2020-2025, 84% of accidents involving these vehicles were caused by non-compliance with legal norms by drivers. During the action, 865 cars were checked, of which 461 were registered in Romania. A total of 595 contraventional sanctions were applied, of which 567 were for violating Government Emergency Ordinance no. 195/2002 regarding traffic on public roads. 21 driving licenses and 49 registration certificates were retained, and 3 offenses were recorded under traffic regulations.
