According to the OECD report, Romania will record a consumption of 12.3 liters of pure alcohol per capita in 2023, a value well above the average of 8.5 liters reported in member countries. While other European states have managed to significantly reduce consumption in the last decade, Romania is among the few countries where the level has increased, exceeding by more than 2 liters the values recorded in 2013.

On the opposite end, Greece is among the states with the lowest consumption, at 6.6 liters per person, followed by Belgium and Lithuania, where the reduction compared to ten years ago has exceeded 2.5 liters.
