Airbus has confirmed a 'quality issue' with a limited number of metal panels on A320 aircraft, which has led to delays in their deliveries. The company emphasized that the source of the problem has been identified and isolated, and so far there is no evidence that the planes already in service have been affected. As a result of this information, Airbus shares fell by 5.4% on the Paris stock exchange, after initially losing 10%. This situation further complicates the recent issues Airbus is facing, after most of the 6,000 A320 aircraft affected by a software problem have already received the necessary modifications. The software issue, related to solar radiation, has caused significant disruptions in air traffic in the US, Australia, and Asia. Airbus has not provided a specific timeline for resuming deliveries of the aircraft affected by the new defects.
