Adrian Țuțuianu, the president of the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), emphasized on Tuesday, in Parliament, the necessity of a draft law for the organization and functioning of the AEP, the only autonomous authority without its own law. He explained that the current organization is based on a regulation approved by Parliament, which is considered 'abnormal'.
Țuțuianu proposed a comprehensive reform, which includes the reorganization of central and territorial structures, reducing the number of positions, many of which are vacant. From 131 occupied positions in 2012, the number has steadily increased, reaching 407 in 2024, without additional responsibilities. He identified dysfunctions, such as the uneven distribution of positions and overlapping responsibilities. The reorganization proposal aims to eliminate 53 positions at the central level and 147 at the territorial level, in order to streamline the AEP's activities. Since taking office, the number of employees has decreased from 396 to 268.
