On Friday, the box office was marked by a series of premieres, but the indie horror film "The Iron Lung," self-distributed and financed by YouTuber Mark "Markiplier" Fischbach, came in first, generating approximately $8.9 million from 3,015 theaters. It is estimated that revenues will reach $17 million by Sunday, exceeding initial projections of $10 million. The film, based on a horror game from 2022, follows a fugitive in a post-apocalyptic future. In second place was "Send Help," a thriller set on a deserted island directed by Sam Raimi, which gathered $7.2 million. The film, with a budget of $40 million, stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien. Third place was taken by the documentary "Melania," which brought in $2.9 million, while fourth place went to "Shelter," featuring Jason Statham, which earned $1.9 million. The last place was occupied by "Zootopia 2," which generated $1.3 million.
