Directed by Paul King, known for the global success of the Paddington films and the musical Wonka, the film is in the early stages of development. Labubus, toys inspired by Nordic stories, have gained popularity in Southeast Asia since 2019, being promoted by the Chinese retailer Pop Mart. Their popularity has increased due to social media posts and adoption by celebrities.
