A sketch of approximately 13 centimeters, created by Michelangelo as a study for a Sibyl, has set a new auction record. This sketch, which was used for the painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, is part of a rare collection of about 10 drawings by the artist, known to be in private collections. After a 45-minute auction, the sketch was sold for a price 20 times higher than the initial estimate, thus highlighting the exceptional value of Michelangelo's work in the art market.
